Fastest qualifier Apollitical Daizies upset world champion Whistle Stop Cafe in the $439,991 All American Oaks at Ruidoso Downs on September 5.

The bay filly owned by Victor Lozano went off at 8-1 odds, and was sharp in the 440-yard test, breaking with Whistle Stop Cafe to her outside, but then taking the lead and never relinquishing it. She won by a length with Mario Delgado aboard in :21.051 for trainer Martin Orona Sr. 

Whistle Stop Cafe was second, and was followed by HR Princess Jess, Hollyn Bootie, Miss Famous Eagle, Valiant Stars, La Jaconde, Jess Lyndes Reason and In My Heart. 

Apollitical Daizies was bred by JGA Racing Stables Inc and is by world champion sire Apollitical Jess and out of the Strawflyin Buds mare Pushing Daizes. This is her second win in seven career starts, and pushes her earnings to $210,051.

Whitmire Ranch’s Whistle Stop Cafe’s retirement was announced before the All American Oaks. She retires with nine wins from 10 starts, with earnings of $2,222,840.
