Major Game earned his first stakes victory in Sunday's 350-yard, $120,000 New Mexico Breeders' Futurity (RG3) for state-bred 2-year-olds at SunRay Park.

Prepped by Eric Valenzuela for owners Jaime Perez, Andres Estrada, and J. Santos Espinoza, Major Game defeated fastest qualifier Sheza Ahotmess by a neck in :17.357. Sergio Becerra Jr. rode the chestnut son of the Walk Thru Fire stallion Gronkowski.

Just a half of a length separated the first five finishers in this, SunRay Park's richest race for any breed.

Major Game was bred by Mike Abraham, and the colt is out of A Major Chamisa, an unraced homebred daughter of the Rime stallion Major Rime. The third-fastest qualifier, Major Game was coming off of a one-length victory in one of seven New Mexico Breeders' Futurity trials on May 6.

Major Game was winning for the third time in four starts, and the $72,000 winner's share of the purse increased his bankroll to $115,073.

Jess Emotions finished third and was followed by Flash Divine, Flecha Gris, J Y Jaaziel, Jess Call Me Mason, Elisas Esperance, BF Daddys Diva, and Flash Me The Price.
