Luis Marquez's Kali K, a beaten favorite in her most recent start, heads a field of nine Colorado-bred sprinters entered in Saturday's 440-yard, $24,000 Rocky Mountain Stakes (R) at Arapahoe Park near Denver.

Kali K is coming off of a second-place finish, a neck behind winner Yo Morning Delite, in the October 18, 350-yard Pen Pal Stakes at Arapahoe Park. The 5-year-old daughter of the One Famous Eagle stallion One Fabulous Eagle has won 10 of her 16 races -- including five stakes -- and she has earned $148,069, but the Rocky Mountain Stakes will mark the mare's first lifetime start at the classic quarter-mile distance.

Kali K drew post 6 and will be ridden by Valente Vorrath for trainer Alexander Orozco.

Other contenders include Felipe Pena's Mr Dash Fire, a homebred 5-year-old son of the Mr Jess Perry stallion Dash Kicker trained by Chris Gandarilla. Mr Dash Fire has earned $50,400 from seven races in Colorado and New Mexico this season, and the gelding's two wins include a one-length victory in the September 6, 350-yard Dolls Prodigy Stakes (R) for Colorado-breds.

Mr Dash Fire drew post 2 and will be ridden by Brayan Juarez.
