The second night of the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale featured a high seller of $400,000 on the night, as the sale continued to post strong numbers.

“Tonight’s sale is the best sale ever held in the Quarter racing business," longtime Ruidoso Horse Sale Company General Manager Lowell Neumayer said late Saturday. "The quality offered was unbelievable and the crowd was here in force to buy them. I still can’t believe what took place tonight."

With 280 horses offered and 244 sold for $16,327,000, horses were averaging $66,914, a jump of 43 percent over 2019. Due to the pandemic, the sale was adjusted last year, making direct day-over-day comparison difficult.

The opening session on Friday included an all-time record of $800,000 for a racing American Quarter Horse yearling sold at auction.

The Saturday night high seller was hip 252, Cyber Attack, a full brother to Grade 1 winners Powerful Favorite, Runforyourlife and Cyber Monday.

Consigned by Burns Ranch, agent, he was purchased by champion owner Rosenthal Ranch LLC, who raced both Powerful Favorite and Runforyourlife.

The colt is sired by leading sire Favorite Cartel and out of the Corona Cartel mare Remember Me Rose.

Selling for $310,000 was Ray Yeigh (Favorite Cartel-Tac Out by Check Him Out), consigned by Burns Ranch, agent, and purchased by Manuel and Reed and Kevin Rodriguez.

Two horses sold for $300,000, including Hott Dynasty (FDD Dynasty-Pandorum by Tres Seis), consigned by Fulton Quien Sabe Ranches LP and purchased by Chow Ventures; and Whiskey Creek (Apollitical Jess-Checknbac by Check Him Out), consigned by Lazy E Ranch, agent for Jim Streelman and Bill Dale, and purchased by West Texas Racing Partnership.

The Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale will close on Sunday night, as it offers hips 313-443.
