Sent to post at odds of 11-1, Boydston Enterprises Inc.'s My Heart Jess Runs scored a wire-to-wire victory in Saturday's $237,763 Shue Fly Stakes (RG2) for New Mexico-bred 3-year-olds at Sunland Park.
My Heart Jess Runs covered 400 yards in :19.373 while earning a 104 speed index and defeating Wood Dee Queen by a neck. James Gonzales III prepped the brown daughter of Jess A Chicks.
My Heart Jess Runs was bred by Mike Abraham. The second-fastest qualifier, the filly made her sophomore season debut with a 1 3/4-length win in one of six Shue Fly trials on January 7. My Heart Jess Runs is out of Shes In My Heart, a winning daughter of champion Fdd Dynasty and a finalist in the 2014 West Texas Derby (G3).
My Heart Jess Runs' second dam, the winning Corona Cartel mare Fly Miss Corona, ran second in the 2009 AQHA New Mexico Derby Challenge (G3) at Ruidoso Downs and was a finalist in that season's Grade 3 West Texas Derby.
My Heart Jess Runs has won three of seven starts, and the $111,749 winner's share of the purse from her first stakes score bumped her bankroll to $126,039.
Flashtoglory finished third and was followed by Mires A La Luna, fastest qualifier and 8-5 favorite Flash Divine, Blazin Chamisa, Wahine, Kings Touch, and Cq Featured First. Third-fastest qualifier First Lady On Canvas was scratched.
