Will Rogers Downs will close its fall American Quarter Horse meet with a stakes tripleheader on Tuesday.
Tuesday’s 350-yard, $358,864 Black Gold Futurity Championship (RG3) for 2-year-old colts and geldings sired by participating stallions has drawn a full field of 10, including graded stakes winner Heavens Uncle. A homebred son of champion Uncle D trained by Guillermo Valdivia for owner Sherry Gilmore, Heavens Uncle is the fifth-fastest qualifier from seven trials run October 28. However, the gelding has earned $382,722 from six races, and his three wins include April 29, 330-yard Remington Park Futurity (RG1).
Heavens Uncle drew post 7 and will be ridden by Bryan Candanosa.
Tom Maher’s Relentless American is the fastest qualifier. The homebred son of champion Hes Relentless has won eight of his nine starts and has banked $169,186, and his two stakes wins include the September 23, $199,000 Oklahoma Horsemen’s Association Mystery Futurity (RG2) at Will Rogers Downs.
Relentless American drew post 9 and will be ridden by Ramiro Garcia for trainer Jason Olmstead.
Also on Tuesday, Jill Cook’s Sheza Fearless Eagle drew post 4 for the 400-yard, $536,151 Black Gold Fillies Futurity Championship (RG3) for juvenile fillies sired by participating stallions.
A homebred daughter of One Fabulous Eagle, Sheza Fearless Eagle has earned $140,552 from six races in Iowa and Oklahoma, and her four wins include a neck victory in the September 27, $253,000 Valley Junction Futurity (G3) at Prairie Meadows. The filly will be ridden by Jorge Torres for trainer Fernando Manriquez-Garay.
Ten Oklahoma-bred sophomores are entered in Tuesday’s 350-yard, $87,304 Oklahoma Horsemen’s Association Mystery Derby (R).
Mayela Valdez’s Fun N Fire brings in a five-race win streak that includes a 1 1/2-length victory in the July 20, $69,000 Speedhorse Derby at Fair Meadows at Tulsa. The gelded son of PYC Fun N Fancy drew post 5 and will be ridden by Juan Pulido for trainer Jose E. Gamez.
Cardiac Cowboy, a homebred Flying Cowboy 123 gelding trained by Jason Olmstead for owner Jo Rice, boasts a three-race win streak that includes a 1 1/4-length victory in the September 27, $112,000 Altoona Derby at Prairie Meadows. Cardiac Cowboy drew post 7 and will be ridden by Ramiro Garcia.
