November 1, 2023 - July 27, 2024 | American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum | Amarillo, Texas
The American Quarter Horse breed would not be where it is today without the contribution of ranch horses. With good conformation and an even better temperament, ranch horses have a lot to offer.
Since 1992, the American Quarter Horse Association has honored the contributions of ranch horses to the heritage of the breed. To date, the AQHA Best Remuda Award has recognized 36 U.S. and International outstanding ranches for raising American Quarter Horses, an important tool of their trade.
To qualify for the Best Remuda Award, ranches must be AQHA Ranching Heritage Breeders at the time of their nomination, meaning they meet the following criteria:
Breed and register at least five foals annually for the past 10 years
Maintain a remuda for the specific purpose of operating a working cattle ranch
Received, at minimum, an AQHA 10-year Breeder award
This exhibit highlights the 36 Best Remuda Award winners and their dedication to the advancement of the American Quarter Horse breed.
