Each year, the American Quarter Horse Association honors breeders who have dedicated their livelihoods to maintaining the integrity of the American Quarter Horse breed. These horsemen, horsewomen and their families see their biggest accomplishments and proudest moments in the horses they breed.

AQHA is honored to recognize 2022 AQHA Cumulative Breeder Walter “Dick” Harrison of Battle Creek, Michigan.

Harrison’s horses have created a name for themselves on the racetrack. Chics Two Rockets, Precious Libby and Fearless Fred have been integral to the success of his program with multiple racing accomplishments under their saddles.

Harriosn was determined to be successful from the very beginning and was able to create an effective breeding program from scratch. AQHA has brought many opportunities his way including Gray Ghost setting a track record at Beulah Park in 1984 that has yet to be broken.

AQHA is proud to recognize the 2022 50-year Cumulative and Legacy Breeders at the AQHA Breeder Banquet, presented by Teton Ridge, during the 2023 AQHA Convention. The banquet is slated for 6 p.m. Sunday, February 26, at the Omni Hotel in Fort Worth, Texas. AQHA will also recognize the 2022 100-Year Breeders; 75-Year Breeders; AQHA Best Remuda and International Best Remuda; the 2021 AQHA Ranching Heritage Breeder of the Year; Top Ranching Heritage-Bred Sale of the Year; and 2022 Top Money-Earning Ranching Heritage Breeder of the Year.
