The annual Jay Pumphrey Cowboy Classic Golf Tournament and dinner, traditionally held during All American week in Ruidoso, New Mexico, will be postponed until 2021 due to restrictions from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

For 40 years, the event has promoted fellowship among racing enthusiasts, allowing people to socialize with others in the industry, while also raising money for the Jay Pumphrey Animal Sciences Scholarship offered through the American Quarter Horse Foundation.

“We are disappointed that we will have to postpone this wonderful event, but everyone’s safety is our No. 1 commitment,” said Janet VanBebber, AQHA chief racing officer. “With the American Quarter Horse Foundation, we are pursuing opportunities for a silent auction this year to continue funding this scholarship, and we look forward to again hosting it next year.”
