Each year, the American Quarter Horse Association honors breeders who have dedicated their livelihoods to maintaining the integrity of the American Quarter Horse breed. These horsemen, horsewomen and their families see their biggest accomplishments and proudest moments in the horses they breed.

AQHA is honored to recognize 2021 AQHA Legacy Breeder Santiago Barrera Jr. of San Diego, Texas.

Barrera has had many horses contribute to his successes such as Oh My Honeybunny, Go Miss Fein and Paralita. His involvement with AQHA has given him and his American Quarter Horses the opportunity to compete with some of the best in the world. Racing and breeding horses has made him well known in his community and has led to other accomplishments outside of the horse industry.

AQHA is proud to recognize the 2021 50-year Cumulative and Legacy Breeders at the AQHA Breeder Banquet, presented by Teton Ridge, during the 2022 AQHA Convention. The banquet is slated for 6 p.m. on Sunday, February 27, at the South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
