AQHA to Honor RHB Top Production Sale

The first top production sale award will be presented in 2022 to an outstanding sale comprised of registered American Quarter Horses, consigned by AQHA Ranching Heritage Breeders.

The American Quarter Horse Association will present the first AQHA Ranching Heritage Breeder Top Production Sale Award in 2022. The award will honor an outstanding sale composed of American Quarter Horses, consigned by Ranching Heritage Breeders.

Ranching Heritage Breeders have until November 30, 2021, to apply for the award. Download the award application.

“AQHA strives to recognize the ranch horse as the cornerstone of the breed and honor the heritage of ranchers who have been good stewards of the land and continue to produce quality American Quarter Horses bred primarily to be used on a working cattle ranch,” said Karen McCuistion, AQHA senior director of member programs. “The RHB Top Production Sale Award is designed to honor those who have been producing quality horses and to recognize their hard work and dedication to promoting the breed.”

The first recipient will be recognized in 2022 for its 2021 production sale. The recipient will receive a commemorative award, as well as recognition throughout the year.

Award criteria includes:

  • Sale must consist of registered American Quarter Horses.

  • A minimum of 75% of the consignors to the sale must be AQHA Ranching Heritage Breeders and/or a minimum of 75% of the horses must be Ranching Heritage-bred.

  • Applicant must be a member in good standing of AQHA and the Ranching Heritage Breeders program.

  • Sale must be at least 5 years old.
