Ten sprinters, headed by Ryansmanonthemoon and Valiant Tiberias, are entered in Sunday's 440-yard, $350,000 Championship at Sunland Park (G1).

A homebred 3-year-old son of First Moonflash, Ryansmanonthemoon is trained by Cynthia Gonzalez for owners Jimmy Negrete and Jimmy Vasquez. Valiant Tiberias races for Sergio Holguin, Cliften Nielsen and Felix Rodriguez from the barn of trainer Wes Giles. The sophomore son of Valiant Hero has earned $236,014 from eight starts this season, and his five wins include a 1 1/2-length victory in the 400-yard, $155,000 Adequan Derby Challenge Championship (G3) at Albuquerque Downs on October 26.

Valiant Tiberias is coming off of a second-place finish to Ryansmanonthemoon in the Zia Park Championship. The gelding drew post 10 and will be ridden by James Flores.

Other contenders include Dunn Ranch's Apollitical Pence, a gelded son of world champion Apollitical Jess who will be making his first-ever start in New Mexico off of a third-place finish in the 400-yard, $1.01-million Los Alamitos Super Derby (G1) on November 10. Apollitical Pence drew the rail post and will be ridden by Ricky Ramirez for trainer James J. Gonzales II.
