Cowboys R Myheros, one of three finalists qualified by trainer Jason Olmstead, is the fastest qualifier to the April 27, $169,175 Remington Park Derby (RG1) for Oklahoma-bred sophomores.

Racing for Brenda Reiswig of Bismarck, North Dakota, Cowboys R Myheros on Saturday won the first of four 400-yard trials by a half of a length in :20.033. Edwin Escobedo rode the homebred son of Flying Cowboy 123.

Cowboys R Myheros was winning for the first time in two races this season. The gelding is out of Red Velvet Hero, a homebred winning Valiant Hero mare who ran second in the 2015 Skip Zimmerman Memorial Stakes at Canterbury Park.

Campaigned in three states, including Minnesota and Iowa, Cowboys R Myheros has won two of nine starts and has banked $24,957.

Olmstead's other Remington Park Derby qualifiers are third-fastest qualifier Cardiac Cowboy and eighth-fastest qualifier Midnight Politics. Escobedo rode all of the trainer's finalists.
