Top reining sire Smart Like Juice died the first weekend of August 2022, according to a social media post by his owners.

The 1994 sorrel stallion was sired by Smart Little Lena and was out of the Doc’s Oak mare Jessies Oak. He was bred by Lindy Burch of Weatherford, Texas, and acquired by Justin and Vaughn Zimmerman before being sold to Jose Vazquez in 1998 and eventually syndicated by Smart Like Juice Inc.

The stallion earned $56,096 in his National Reining Horse Association career and 103 AQHA points. He was  Top 10 in the 1997 NRHA Futurity, earned his AQHA Superior in reining and was Top 10 in junior reining at the 1999 AQHA World Championship Show. 

As a sire, he got 788 foals who have earned 4,687 points and more than $4.2 million in NRHA competition, as well as $50,000 in other association competition.
