AQHA Director of International Activities Sierra Kane

Sierra Kane joined AQHA as Manager of International Activities in August 2017 and was promoted into the position of AQHA Director of International Activities in October 2019. In her current role, Sierra serves as the primary liaison to AQHA’s international affiliates and helps guide the direction of the department with AQHA Interim Executive Vice President Chad Pierce.

Prior to receiving her position as the Director of International Activities at AQHA, Sierra completed her master’s degree at the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands, where she lived, worked, and studied for approximately two years. Sierra also obtained her bachelor’s degree from Westminster College in Utah, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with an honor’s distinction. Today, Sierra is pursuing additional formal education at West Texas A&M University, where she will earn her master’s degree in business administration.

While Sierra has spent thousands of hours abroad, one of her favorite places in the world is home in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she enjoys hiking the Wasatch Mountains and riding American Quarter Horses. Sierra began riding horses at the young age of eight and has competed as an AQHA member for over fifteen years. One of Sierra’s highlights as an AQHA competitor was riding her forever horse, Sudden Tee Time (“Arnold”) in trail at the Ford Youth World.

Not only has Sierra been active in showing horses within AQHA, she has also held several leadership positions. Sierra has served as the AQHYA Region 7 Director, youth president of the Utah Quarter Horse Association and participated in the Youth Excellence Seminar as a youth ambassador in Amarillo, Texas. Little did Sierra know that she would one day return to Amarillo to launch her professional career.

In her role today, Sierra works hard to advocate for AQHA’s international members by building and maintaining strong partnerships with affiliates and engaging with the international committee to address international member challenges. Additionally, Sierra partners with fellow staff to tailor educational programs, recognition and awards, and member services and business processes to fit the needs of international members. She is passionate about continuing to support and recognize the global AQHA community.

AQHA Manager of Multilingual Resources and Communication Ashley Baller

As the Manager of Multilingual Resources and Communication, Ashley works to improve communication and enhance resources, while also gaining insight into what can be further implemented to benefit and cater to the needs of our international affiliates and members in order to better connect, strengthen and enrich the international American Quarter Horse community.

Ashley grew up in Parker, Colorado, where she spent her time showing all-around and ranch events, as well as being active within the rodeo royalty community. In May 2018 she graduated from Colorado State University with a bachelor's of science in equine science and minors in business administration and Spanish. During her time at CSU, she was a member of the American Quarter Horse Judging Team, Equine Science Steward's and the Collegiate Horseman’s Association.

In an effort to refine her Spanish, Ashley studied abroad in San Sebastián, Spain, where she solidified her love and appreciation for culture and travel. Through years of involvement with the National Western Stock Show, she realized that promoting the western and agricultural industries was at the root of her passion and greatest goal for her future career. Ashley is excited to exercise her Spanish, while implementing all that she’s learned through her time at CSU to serve as a member of the International Department.

Ashley is grateful to have the opportunity to impact the Quarter Horse industry on a global scale, while providing for the needs of our international members. Through her current role at AQHA, Ashley assists with the management of programs and initiatives that are committed to improving the international member experience. This includes the international educational marketplace program, international Member Experience events and activities related to the translation of forms and resources into AQHA's five core languages - French, Italian, German, Spanish and Portuguese. Improved communication and implementation of easier-to-access, multilingual resources is at the forefront of her goals. Agriculture is a way of life for Hannah and her family. Hannah’s passion for the horse carried her well beyond her competition days and into her college career. In May 2018 she graduated from Black Hawk College East in Galva, Illinois, with an Associate Degree in Science. During her time at Black Hawk College East, she was a member of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association and enjoyed her equine-related classes such as horsemanship, equine performance and colt starting.
