Berkley Packer rode High On Chablis to a clear 2 1/2-length victory in Tuesday's $26,648 AQHA Canterbury Distance Challenge at Canterbury Park.
Prepped by Clint Crawford for owners Jerry Blackmon, Mike Schau, and Connie Nobles, High On Chablis made 870 yards in :46.336. The 5-year-old High Rate Of Return gelding earned $13,857, and a berth in the October 24, $100,000 Cox Ranch Distance Challenge Championship (G1) at Albuquerque Downs.
High On Chablis was bred in Oklahoma by Connie Nobles. A $7,500 claimer during the Remington Park spring meet, the gelding has won three of 22 starts. The winner's share of the purse from his first stakes victory boosted his bankroll to $57,128.
High On Chablis was sent to post as the 2-1 favorite in the field of five and returned a $6.20 win mutuel. Edelman, Summerhills Hero, The Runaway Favorite, and Jess A Final Diva completed the order of finish.
