About the Scholarship Fund
AQHA Professional Horseman Guy Stoops was a talented third-generation horseman. His grandfather was a cavalry instructor during World War I and his father was an avid hunter-jumper and three-day eventer. After Stoops was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident in 2003, he was posthumously named AQHA Professional Horseman of the Year.

Stoops believed strongly in giving back to fellow professional horsemen through education and he supported the AQHA Professional Horsemen program since its inception. The Guy Stoops scholarship was founded in 2004 in his memory and has awarded scholarships to 19 children. Stoops’ legacy and dedication to AQHA lives on through the scholarship fund and through the Professional Horsemen and their families it impacts.
