FDD Cloud, a 4-year-old son of FDD Going Grand racing for Aurelio Juarez, is one of a dozen aged runners entered in Friday's 400-yard, $75,000 La Plata Stakes at SunRay Park.
FDD Cloud brings in a two-race win streak that includes a victory in the 400-yard, $100,000 Lovington Stakes (G2) at Zia Park on December 17. Omar Vargas trains the sorrel gelding.
FDD Cloud drew post 10 and will be ridden by Alfredo Sigala.
Other contenders include Whiskey Creek, a 4-year-old gelded son of world champion Apollitical Jess trained by Lonnie Vaughn for owner Rancho AA LLC. Whiskey Creek is coming off of a sixth-place finish in a 400-yard West Texas Maturity (G3) trial on March 10. However, the gelding earned $530,478 from seven races during his 3-year-old season, and he scored an upset victory at odds of 26-1 in American Quarter Horse racing's richest stakes for sophomores, the 440-yard, $1.2-million All American Derby (G1) at Ruidoso Downs.
Whiskey Creek drew post 2 and will be ridden by Jacob Enriquez.
