About the AQHA & Adequan® Select World Shows

The AQHA & Adequan® Select World Championship Shows are for the world's best American Quarter Horses shown by open, amateur and Select amateur exhibitors.

The AQHA & Adequan® Select World Championship Shows is the premier event in the equine industry. Competitors must reach a predetermined number of points to secure a spot in each of the classes. Competitors and their American Quarter Horses compete all year long to qualify for the honor of participating in this annual event and represent the disciplines of English, western and halter. The show brings together exhibitors, owners and breeders of the American Quarter Horse from around the world for three weeks of exciting competition, educational opportunities, and a bountiful trade show.

Nearly 8,000 entries from around the world gather annually in November for the AQHA World Show at the OKC Fairgrounds in Oklahoma City to compete for 104 AQHA world championships, 44 Adequan® Select World championships, 99 Adequan® Level 2 championships, and 26 AQHA Level 1 Champion of Champions.

In addition to World Champion, Adequan® Level 2 champion titles and the AQHA Level 1 Champion of Champions, the AQHA World Show also recognizes:

  • AQHA Superhorse, awarded to the horse that earns the most points in three or more Level 3 open classes in three categories during the show.

  • AQHA All-Around Amateur Award, presented to the exhibitor and horse team that earned the most points in three or more Level 3 amateur events in three categories during the show.

  • AQHA Select All-Around Amateur, presented to the exhibitor and horse team that earned the most points in three or more Select amateur events in three categories. The exhibitor must be 50 years of age or older to be considered eligible.

  • Oklahoma City Convention and Visitors Bureau Leading Owner, awarded to the owner who has the highest number of points accumulated for their horses entered at the AQHA World Show in both the Level 3 classes and Adequan® Level 2 classes. The owner must have three horses entered at the show to be eligible.

  • Top AQHA Ranching Heritage-bred horses, $250 presented to the owners and breeders in both the Amateur, Select and Open divisions. 

  • Gene Graves Super-Select Special Recognition Award given to teh Super-Select exhibitor, age 70 and over earning the greatest number of points in Level 3 classes or Level 3 Amateur classes where a Select offering is not available.

  • Nutrena Senior Athletes the award is presented to the Level 3 Select exhibitor and American Quarter Horse at the 2025 Adequan® Select AQHA World Championship Show with the highest combined age. 

The AQHA World Show hosts a variety of events and activities for trainers and exhibitors, including free Nutrena Ride the Pattern clinics taught by AQHA Professional Horsemen.
